THE USE OF ENGLISH
1. Some and Any
* Some
Used in positive sentence, some can be used for countable and uncountable nouns. Some are not used in negative sentence or question.
Example :
a. My brothers buy some chairs.
b. She buy some book in the bookstore some book in the bookstore.
* Any
Used for negative and question.
Example :
a. I don't have any Math books
b.Do you have any money ?
2. Much and Many
*Much
Much is used for objects that can't be calculated, and to calculated is required a measure / scale and certain size. The benchmark of an objects can't be calculated is if to calculate it must use the tool. Such as liter, Rupiah, Kilogram and so on.
Example:
a. We need much sand to make place from sand.
b. There is too much water in the bath tub.
* Many
Many means "a lot". Many are used for countable nouns.
Example :
a. We have many collection video of drama musical.
b. There are many teachers in my school.
3. A Lot Of and A Few
* A Lot Of
Used for countable or uncountable nouns.
Note :
1. In the news sentence, use a lot of
2. In the sentence, ask for much for a noun that can't be counted, or many for noun that can be caounted.
3. I the denying sentence, use much for an object that can't be counted.
Example :
a. How much sugar in the cup ?
answer : There is a lot of sugar in the cup
b. How many teachers are there in that school ?
answer : There are not many teachers in that school.
* A Few
Used to describe countable object. A few are also placed before the noun which will be given the clairy of quantity the noun after a few must be plural.
Example :
a. Only a few of use study abroad.
b. She only have a few friends in the biology class.
